Please protect NET NEUTRALITY, and keep control over the telecommunication industry. Concast is not my idea of a socially responsible company! We've seen devastation from the banking industry and the oil industry, If we loose Net Neutrality, we've lost our democracy. PLEASE KEEP CONTROL OVER THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS INDUSTRY, BREAK UP THEIR CONSOLIDATIONS, AND GUARANTEE US FREE AND UNCENSORED COMMUNICATIONS.

Dear FCC members,
it is time to reclaim the commons which is the public air space. It is further time to restore and protect the public and their respective communties from the extortion that is currently the case with the large media. They in their quest for gold are snuffing out the access by citizens from expressing their interest and points of view. On reflection of recent events in the last eighteen moths it has become quite clear that a republic such as ours can not thrive and defend its self until and unless there is easy access to the video and sound air waves. Further the cable companies must be regulated to stop their gouging of communties with their fees and perversion on supporting Community Access stations around the country.

Country Workshops, a non-profit woodworking school, is located in the north-east corner of Madison County, North Carolina. We have been offering classes in traditional woodworking with hand tools since 1978.

During that time we have experienced the many changes in communication experienced by schools, businesses, individual and government. Bill Clinton promised the "Information Highway" for all of our country.

As of now, at our location we have (don't have):

cell phone service
digital television
broadband internet

Our mountain view obstructs all existing communication towers. One of these mountains is perfectly located to serve most of our community (called Shelton Laurel), and the neighboring community of Flag Pond, Tennessee.

A community based organization, such as Mountain Area Information Network, could co-ordinate and possibly operate the system we need. This would require strong support from the FCC and some public funding. (A return investment for us local tax payers.) We are not are of any corporate effort to rectify our situation.

A free market is about competition, without which the largest broadband providers have no incentive to keep prices in check or to service areas that are not profitable. Small companies, communities, and cooperatives should be allowed to provide high speed internet access; consumers will have choices and unserved areas will have service.

Government regulation is the only way to protect the rights of the average citizen. It is extremely important that the internet is a fair and open medium for all.
