Tonight on The Cut: Dance Party Redux

October 6, 2007 by onair

Tune in the The Cut tonight at 10:00 pm right after Drop Beats Not Bombs with Molly and Michelle.

We’ll be showcasing DJ sets from local legends Big Ted, Sysex, Celestial Business, and Choenyi. The gang has a new weekly residency Tuesday nights down at the New French Bar. We’ll be hearing what went down on Tuesday October 2. The event was broadcast live on the Internet. If you missed your chance to get down it’s not too late.

The Cut is a showcase of electronic music, which strives to highlight underrepresented experimental electronic artists. While the program is coordinated locally, in Asheville, and has featured many live, in-studio performances from regional musicians; the show is hosted internationally on a rotation basis by about a group of DJs, who are spread out over a half-dozen countries, including Chile, The UK, The Netherlands, and Slovenia.

The Strange Boutique: Devoid of Normalcy

October 5, 2007 by onair

Join Brian for THE STRANGE BOUTIQUE Friday night beginning at 9pm for amazing music from the past and present. Expect lots of psychedelia from many different genres. We groove, we rock, we get downright weird at times, but most of all we entertain and expand for 4 solid hours!!!

Program Note: The “Cheese at 11″ segment will be on hiatus throughout the month of October, as I think we’ve all had so much cheese that we’re probably a bit “backed up”. That said, you can still expect a dose or two of cheesy sounds to appear at some point during the show as Brian wouldn’t have it any other way!

Additionally, a big THANKS goes out to Stephen Kirbach of Stunt-Cypher-Mayhem for guest hosting The Strange Boutique last week while Brian washed his hair.

If you miss the live broadcast, you can always check out the archive of the first two hours (9-11pm).

And the last word, a musically remixed commentary from Mumia Abu Jamal – “Why War Begins.”
