We’ll talk to Jonas and Kindra Phillips about his arrest, the right to dissent, and oh yeah, impeaching Bush and Cheney. Contact them at impeach_now@bellsouth.net Read Kindra’s blog gaiastears.blogspot.com here.

We’ll talk to members of the Southeast Convergence about the action last week in downtown Asheville, the Rising Tide movement, coal, and the right to dissent. Check their website here.

We’ll talk to Asheville City Councilwoman Robin Cape about the Asheville Police and their stance towards, you guessed it, the right to dissent.

If we have time, we’ll talk about the right-wing think tank publishing an article openly calling on George W. Bush to sweep aside democratic government and declare himself “President-for-Life.” Think we’ll have the right to dissent? read the article here.

If you don’t use your brain others do….

August 15, 2007 by onair

tv!“If you don’t use your brain others do…” is the motto of this special Paris of the South Radio Hour.

This week Stephanie and Francois invite you to share:

  • An exploration on the beautiful-ugly people syndrome. This is a virus directly injected into your brain through television.
  • An essay on paranoia by Eugene Robinson.
  • A “live”report from Bele Chere about the “take back the media” campaign.
  • And finally a report from Paris about the independence of the French media.

Be reassured! As usual we are making these crucial subjects FUN! Thanks to Turzi and his psychedelic musical background and George GUETARY.

Afternoon Slacken – Musical Mash Ups, Interviews and More

August 13, 2007 by onair

What are mash ups? They are two or more songs mixed together to create a special new song. This week, Easy Mark hosts lots of Beatles mash ups for your listening pleasure.

Sorry, the archived show is only available until August 21st. After which, it is replaced by the new show.

Also featured is an interview with local activist-writer, Clare Hanrahan, on how people can join together to share hope for peace and justice. After doing time in federal prison for standing her ground at the U.S. Army’s torture-training School Of The Americas, Ms Hanrahan wrote “Jailed For Justice” a guidebook which aims to help prepare those persons-of-conscience who choose to be arrested for acts of civil disobedience. Clare’s blog may be read at: ashevilleontheground.blogspot.com

As always, there is a commentary from Mumia Abu Jamal. This one is about the S.O.A. and the war for eternal empire.

And last but not least, the crossover segment. This is a regular feature which highlights another WPVM community radio show-host. This week, get to know Greg, of “The Good The Bad And The Ugly” (a music show on Thursdays from 2-4 PM). Be sure to check out the programming guide for complete schedule information on all of the WPVM shows. Enjoy!

Music shows are only archived for one week after broadcast. So get ‘em before they’re gone!
